it’s always an uncertainty,
whether it will be
collapse,
or understanding,
that changes us.

it did not require
almost any
physical effort

the roof
inexplicably
does not leak.

i’ve addressed
none of the leaks,

not really hungry but
also never not hungry,

a collector of resources.

i use my body
as storage.

i turned my attention to
a sandwich;

i will not have reason to
alter my position.

you invent reasons
to go.

careful not to make
too much eye contact.

wondering
how long it will be before
i can reasonably eat
again.

the dimpling
has a pleasing appearance.

when it is time to
protect ourselves,
we think conservatively.
