not regretting the interaction but not not regretting the interaction either

people working very
hard at being
people. people
going to
the ocean to pull things
out of the ocean
to turn into
people. people
going into cities where
there are other
people
working hard trying
to be
people. people
wearing clothing like
people. people
cutting hair like
people. people
playing the same
few chords
in the same general
combination.
just like
people. people
going to
the mountains
to dig into
the mountains
to hollow out
the mountains
to rubble down
the mountains
so as to build more
people.

sometimes it
passes you very
closely. even
though you do not want
it, it
passes you
closely, its passage
creating a vacuum,
sucking you along,
pulling you over
and into
where it just was.
sometimes it
passes you with
a wide berth with
plenty of room with
a voluptuous cushion of
air. it bows
all the way into
the other lane.
you don’t even know
it is
passing you
until after
it is
already passed.

people
working very hard being
people. people
in the prairie
with the green gold skin
swaying and sighing like cereal
grains. people
working very hard.

into the wood into
the forest into and with
the ash and the cedar and
the alder and the oak. into
and with the spruce. into
and with the cherry and
the maple. the aspen.
the cypress. the juniper.
there, on moss,
with the pines,
pining.
