thirty three miles with twenty nine hundred feet of elevation gain

forgotten stone
fence all in
a ribbon along
a tattered road.
long past
its intended
use. tractors
move slowly
by. dust
rises, hangs, again
settles. forgotten
stone fence under
a sky of gray, under
a sky of blue. you
have flattened
into the day. clouds
have drifted back
into your valley.
unseen birds fill
the air with their
song. god. buddha. barking
dogs. green trees. a
stone in your
palm. a ribbon
of stones.

tiny white flowers with stripes of pale blue wear even tinier droplets of water.
